Powerful Features for the Expert Pilot.

The Spektrum™ AirWare™ software that comes in the DX18 transmitter offers all the programming features an expert pilot could want. And the intuitive SimpleScroll™ interface makes navigating menus and changing settings as simple as "roll and click." It's almost like using a mouse.

Many Spektrum AirWare features are innovations you won't find anywhere else, innovations that make flying safer and programming easier.

Pro-Class Programming for Sailplanes

In addition to extensive airplane and heli programming, the DX18 transmitter has the most impressive sailplane programming features you'll find in any handheld transmitter. Ten available flight modes, 5 wing types, 3 tail types, 2 motor types, flap delay with elevator compensation-it has it all. You even have the ability to adjust individual servo characteristics (end points, travel, center, etc.) for all 18 channels.

Built-In Sequencer

Program a sequence of switch-activated events with time delays between each event. For instance, with a flip of the gear switch you could have an auxiliary channel open landing gear doors, then have the retract channel lower the landing gear, followed by the auxiliary channel closing the gear doors after the gear is extended.

Built-In Servo Balancer

No more will you need a complicated network of little boxes littering your fuselage if you want to balance servos. You can precisely balance the output of CCPM swash servos or multiple servos on a single control surface using a 7-point curve mix.

X-Plus™ Channel Expansion

Both the DX18 transmitter and its AR9020 receiver are X-Plus capable, meaning you can add up to eight extra switch channels with an X-Plus channel expansion module. You just plug the module into the AR9020 and bind it. It's just what anyone who flies complex scale models or high-performance sailplanes needs.

Stay up to date

Register your DX18 transmitter and receive alerts whenever a new AirWare version is available.

Max Out Your Functions.

Both the DX18 transmitter and its AR9020 receiver are X-Plus capable, meaning you can add up to eight extra channels with an X-Plus channel expansion module. You just plug the module into the AR9020, bind it and then assign the extra 8 channels to any function desired. It's just what anyone who flies complex scale models or high-performance sailplanes needs.

Fly Smarter with Built-in Vital Model Feedback™ Telemetry with Data Log.

The DX18 transmitter is equipped with a built-in telemetry feature that gives you real-time information on things like your model's battery voltage, signal quality, engine or motor temperature, airspeed, altitude and more.

It will also log the telemetry data to its SD card so you can review it after the flight. Just connect a Spektrum TM1000 or TM1100 Air Telemetry Module (both sold separately) to the AR9020 receiver. There is a wide array of Spektrum telemetry sensors for tracking just about any vital model function you can think of, and new ones are being added all the time.

Monitor Telemetry on Your Apple® Device Too

In addition to viewing telemetry on your DX18 LCD display, Spektrum technology lets you send telemetry info direct to your iPhone®, iPad® or iPod touch® device with the TR1000 STi™ Interface (sold separately).* It's a great way to let someone else watch telemetry so you can focus completely on flying.

*Requires free STi app. Works with iPhone®, iPad® or iPod touch® mobile digital device.

Overview

To truly fly like a pro takes skill and the right tools. If you have the skill, the DX18 has the pro-class tools you need.

The Spektrum™ DX18 is a true milestone for RC pilots who operate models with a lot of functions or a lot of servos. It’s the RC world’s first handheld transmitter with 18 fully-proportional channels. Until the DX18, the highest number of proportional channels in a hand-held transmitter was 16. And that’s just the beginning.

The Most Advanced Spektrum AirWare™ Software Yet
The centerpiece of the DX18 is its incredibly advanced Spektrum AirWare software. Based on the powerful DX10t software that’s already proven itself in the field, it offers a wealth of programming options for airplanes, helicopters and gliders.

Some of the more notable features include:
• State-of-the-art glider software developed with the assistance of Sweden’s national F3B glider team—10 flight modes (the most of any transmitter), the ability to modify individual characteristics for every servo in a glider, 5 wing types, 3 tail types, 2 throttle setups and much more

• Servo balancing for all 18 channels using a sophisticated 7-point curve mix

• Built-in servo sequencer that lets users program a complex string of control events they can activate with the simple flick of a switch

• 16 programmable mixes that allow the user to mix all 18 channels

• Pre-programmed servo setups for nearly every type of wing, tail and swashplate imaginable

• Enough onboard memory for up to 50 models with the ability to store settings in excess of 2000 more on the included SD card (limited only by the memory of the SD card)

• The RC world’s only electronic pre-flight checklist

• 2048 resolution on the first 10 channels (which include the primary controls) and 512 resolution on the remaining 8 X-Plus™ channels

• All switches and channels are completely assignable. Want to move throttle trim to the right slider? You can. Want to use the throttle stick to control sailplane camber and crow? You can. Basically, the user can program any stick, dial, switch or slider to generate any output they choose.

• Four timers—a system timer for the overall on-air time of the radio, a model memory timer for the flight time of a specific model and two countdown/stopwatch timers that can be activated any number of ways

Improved Ergonomics
The DX18 is one of the most ergonomically advanced pro-class transmitters ever designed. Its shape and weight distribution make it very comfortable to hold for long periods of time. The soft rubber pads on the sides of the case add to the feeling of comfort while ensuring a secure grip. Even the SimpleScroll™ programming interface (or roller) has been given a rubber coating so users can navigate menus and functions more precisely. All switches are of highest quality. Each control stick boasts four ball bearings per gimbal so movement is incredibly smooth.

Dual Diversity Antenna
The DX18 is the first Spektrum transmitter with a “dual diversity” fixed antenna. Aside from being incredibly durable, it’s the first pro-class transmitter antenna to employ the use of both vertical and horizontal antenna arrays. The horizontal array is cleverly housed in the handle on the back of the transmitter and, with the vertical array, virtually eliminates the possibility of polarization blackouts.

Telemetry Functions
All telemetry screens have been updated to support the latest lineup of Spektrum telemetry sensors. The coolest new telemetry feature, however, is the data log. In addition to monitoring telemetry in real time, users will be able to record (or log) telemetry data to the SD card for review after the flight. They can then view the logged data on an iPad® mobile digital device or any other device equipped with the optional Spektrum STi™ iTelemetry Unit.

In short, the Spektrum DX18 is the standard for pro-class sophistication, comfort and ease of use. No other handheld transmitter even comes close.

The DX18 transmitter is not compatible with the Spektrum AR6000/BR6000 receiver.
